Why an external antenna?

Often the signal is fine outside the van. It's getting it inside that's the problem.

Vans are metal boxes

A campervan or motorhome's metal body blocks some of the phone signal before it reaches you. Your phone can show one bar even when the mast isn't far away.

So the antenna goes outside

Campsites and open countryside are often a long way from the mast, so signal is weak to start with. The antenna sits on the outside of a window, clear of the metal, and picks up more signal and speed for the pocket WiFi inside.

And the WiFi stays portable

Unplug the antenna and the pocket WiFi runs on its own battery, so it comes with you on walks, to the beach or into town.

How it works

Set up in a couple of minutes when you park. No drilling and no tools.

  1. 1

Stick the antenna to a window

It fixes to the outside of the glass with suction cups and comes off clean. Pick the window where your phone gets the best signal.

  2. 2

Plug it into the pocket WiFi

Two leads run from the antenna to the pocket WiFi inside. Switch it on and connect your phones, tablets and laptop.

  3. 3

Take the pocket WiFi with you

Heading out? Unplug the antenna and take the pocket WiFi. Plug it back in when you're back at the van.

Please don't drive with the antenna fixed to the outside. While you're driving, you can fix it to the inside of the window instead.

Is the Camper WiFi Pro right for me?

  • There's phone signal where you're staying, even if it's weak
  • Your phone shows one or two bars inside the van
  • You want WiFi that comes with you when you leave the van
  • You'd rather not rely on a mains hook-up

Little or no phone signal where you're going? Look at the Starlink Mini. Just need portable WiFi without the antenna? See Pocket WiFi.

    Common questions

Yes, you can. It still works from the inside, but the van's body and the glass block some of the signal, so it may not get the best signal or speed. For the strongest connection, stick it to the outside of the window.

Yes. Unplug the antenna and take the pocket WiFi with you on walks, to the beach or into town. It runs on its own battery. Plug the antenna back in when you're back at the van.

Yes. It has its own battery and charges from any USB socket, including the one in your camper, so you don't need a mains hook-up.

The Camper WiFi Pro needs some phone signal, even if it's weak. For places with little or no usable signal, choose the Starlink Mini, which connects by satellite. Not sure? Send us the postcodes and we'll check for you.
